Detailed Review
Uber Eats benefits enormously from Uber's existing infrastructure. The same driver network that powers ride-hailing ensures delivery coverage even in suburban areas where DoorDash or Grubhub might have gaps. In our testing, we consistently found delivery options available until 2 AM in metro areas.
The app experience is polished and fast. Restaurant search is well-organized with filters for cuisine type, price range, delivery time, and dietary preferences. Each listing shows estimated delivery time, delivery fee, and user rating. Photo-rich menus help with decision-making.
Uber One ($9.99/month) is the standout value proposition — it covers both Uber rides (5% discount on eligible rides) and Uber Eats ($0 delivery fee on orders over $15). If you use both services, the combined savings add up quickly compared to paying for DashPass separately.
Delivery reliability was strong in our tests. Estimated delivery times were accurate within 5-7 minutes about 75% of the time. The live tracking map shows your driver's exact location, and the 'Leave at door' photo confirmation works consistently.
Grocery delivery has expanded significantly. In partnership with stores like Albertsons, Safeway, and local grocers, you can get a full grocery order delivered same-day. The selection isn't as comprehensive as Instacart's, but for quick grocery runs it's convenient.
Pricing is the major downside. Between service fees ($3-5), delivery fees ($1-5 without Uber One), small order fees (under $12), and the 15-30% menu markup, a $15 meal easily costs $25-30. With Uber One, you eliminate the delivery fee but the service fee and markup remain.
The tipping system is transparent — you can tip before or after delivery, and Uber Eats shows that 100% goes to the driver. The suggested tip percentages are reasonable (15%, 20%, 25%).
For users already in the Uber ecosystem, Uber Eats is the natural choice. One app, one payment method, one membership covering rides and food. For pure food delivery value, DoorDash's larger US restaurant selection and DashPass give it a slight edge.

Our Verdict
Uber Eats is the best food delivery app for global travelers and anyone who wants ride-hailing and delivery in one ecosystem. Its restaurant selection matches DoorDash in most US markets, and Uber One membership covering both rides and deliveries is excellent value for frequent users.
